Would an Autism assessment with Heather be a good fit for me?
That depends on what you’re looking for. This assessment is not a good fit if you are applying for disability benefits, like Social Security Disability (SSDI or SSI). Those programs usually require a diagnosis from a psychologist, not a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), so a psychologist would be a better fit for that need.
This assessment is a great fit if you want accommodations at work or in college, or if you want more clarity about your neurotype. Many people I work with have wondered about this for a long time, or received a past diagnosis that didn’t feel complete or didn’t match their experience. My goal is to help you get clear, accurate answers.
What ages do you accept for Autism assessments?
I provide Autism assessments for adults, 18 and older, who are out of high school. I am not able to assess individuals who are still in high school, even if they are 18.

PAYMENT Questions
How do I pay for therapy?
Group therapy:
You can choose between placing your card on file to be charged at the end of each group session, using your insurance if you have BCBS PPO or Aetna, or paying in full with Afterpay or your HSA/FSA card prior to the start of group.
Autism & Diagnostic Assessments:
You will pay before delivery of the service. You can pay via: debit/credit card; HSA/FSA card; Apple Pay/Google Pay; Cash App Pay; and Afterpay.
Individual Sessions:
You will be required to place a card on file. You can pay via: debit/credit card; HSA/FSA card; Apple Pay/Google Pay; and Cash App Pay. If using your insurance, you will still have to place a card on file to be charged for your copay/coinsurance.
How does Afterpay work?
If you meet Afterpay’s eligibility requirements, you can charge the entire amount of your service to Afterpay (plus any fees Afterpay may have) and make monthly payments to Afterpay over the course of a 6 or 12 month period. I cannot guarantee that you will be approved, but it won’t affect your credit score to sign up. Once you receive an invoice from me, you can choose Afterpay as your payment option and follow the steps to view the payment plan you decide to set up with them.
Does Bloom accept insurance?
Heather accepts BCBS, Aetna, Optum (UHC and UMR), Ambetter, Verity HealthNet, Medicare Part B, and Medicaid (Aetna Better Health, Healthy Blue, & LHCC).
Hope accepts Verity HealthNet, Optum (UHC & UMR), Aetna, Ambetter, and BCBS commercial plans.
Mckenzie accepts Aetna and Verity HealthNet commercial plans, as well as LA Healthcare Connections and Aetna Better Health Medicaid plans.
Sophia accepts Verity/LSU First and Aetna Commercial.
Alyssa is currently in the process of credentialing with Aetna and Verity commercial plans. The website will be updated when credentialing is finalized.
If you have a different insurance, we can provide you a superbill for potential reimbursement through your health insurance agency. If you want to contact your insurance to ask about out of network coverage, you might need one of these CPT codes: psychiatric diagnostic evaluation – 90791; individual therapy 60 minutes – 90837; individual therapy 45 minutes – 90834.
Can I use Insurance for Autism Assessments?
No, Autism Assessments are private pay only. They go beyond the scope of what is typically covered by insurance companies for LCSW’s.
Do you charge for accommodation letters for work or school?
No. I provide this free of charge. If you already know the accommodations you are requesting, I can have the letter ready for you at your follow-up session. If you are unsure, we can discuss this at your follow-up session and I will send you the letter within one week.
What if I don’t initially request an accommodation letter when I am evaluated and need one later?
No problem. Send me (Heather) an email and I can send one to you within 1-2 weeks. If it is more urgent, indicate that in your email.
What if I cannot pay for the Autism Assessment all at one time?
Please mention when scheduling and we can discuss payment plan options.
What if my question isn’t listed here?
Email me your question and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Please give me 2 business days before sending a follow-up email or call.
